Zolman, Kathryn A. Are You a Pineapple? Illustrated by Walter Policelli. Herndon, VA: Mascot Books, 2022.
Getting a new puppy brings a lot of responsibility with it. One of those responsibilities is finding just the right name for the puppy. Kevin has a new puppy and he wants to find just the right name for her. The book takes the reader/listener through a number of different name choices – each one is rejected by the puppy. Kathryn A. Zolman based this book on a true story. She tells the story in a delightful way.
Walter Policelli’s illustrations are whimsical in nature and complement the text well.
Parents of younger children will enjoy this book with their child. It is a great read aloud if a new puppy is in the family. It is a short book and I’m sure some kiddos will ask parents to read it again and again. Once they know the story, they will enjoy inserting the different possible names for the puppy.
Are You a Pineapple? would be a good addition to the picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library.
I received a complimentary copy of Are You a Pineapple? This is my honest review.
