Meet the Author – Karen M. Bobos:
Karen M. Bobos is the multi-award-winning author of the Adventures in Harmony series, which was created in 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic. While living in a city of unrest, her family left Chicago to stay with her mother in Northwest Indiana for several months. She and her husband were determined to keep life filled with wonder and magic for their three daughters, Scarlett (6), Daphne (5), and Cora (3). The Adventures in Harmony series was created to entertain her daughters during their stay at Gigi’s home and is filled with characters from the sisters’ world. Everyone deserves to escape to a land filled with love and adventure where creatures co-exist and happiness awaits.

An Interview with Karen M. Bobos
When did you first know you wanted to be an author?
I know it sounds cheesy, but for as long as I can remember, I wanted to be an author. I have been writing poetry and stories since the third or fourth grade. I have an English degree and LOVED every minute of college. I wish I started pursuing writing books earlier in life, but I must believe that everything happens when it is supposed to happen. I couldn’t have created these stories with my daughters as the main characters without having them in my life.
When you are not writing, what other hats do you wear? What do you do for fun?
Ha, I am a busy mother of three little girls under eight years old. I love being their mom and making sure that their world is magical. I also own a wellness company for the past 16 years in Chicago. Long story, but my other passion in life is fitness. Outside of motherhood and work, I love decorating and renovating our vintage 1929 condo in Chicago. We just bought a lake house in Indianapolis, so that will be my next adventure.
What is your favorite genre to read? What about that genre draws you?
I love a good romance or suspense novel, but I really enjoy romantic era literature. I especially love Keats and Blake. I’m an old soul.
What is your vacation destination? Why?
We typically hit a beach resort. My daughters are young, and it’s the most fun for them and easiest to manage.
Who did you have in mind as you wrote the book?
My sister-in-law, Elizabeth. She isn’t necessarily “fancy,” but she is a very classy and kind lady.
As a former K-12 school librarian I have to ask – what is your favorite children’s book?
I loved the Super Fudge series and Judy Bloom books.
What advice would you give to a child or teen who wants to be a writer?
Just do it! Ask lots of questions and fill yourself with knowledge. Take a writing class after school or over the summer. Interview current authors. Most importantly, start writing. Write every day. Never let anyone discourage you.
