But who is the man who displays such hatred for the Michaels when they arrive at their resort? Is an attempted burglary as random as it appears? Will Jen ever accept the newcomers to the family? When the four teens set out to explore Haiti’s sights and history on their own, an unexpected encounter and natural disaster plunge them into adventure and danger. With their very survival at stake, can the four teens work together, or will Lexi’s dream of a “forever family” end in tragedy?

When did you first know you wanted to be an author?
I think I always enjoyed writing stories, but my mom encouraged me to do something “more practical” so I earned my degree in elementary education. But then I married a military member, and we moved around so much I was never licensed in the area where we were living. So I wrote articles and preteen devotional books while raising children.
When you are not writing, what other hats do you wear? What do you do for fun?
In order to relate to one of my characters I learned to scuba dive and ride a motorcycle. Now
these are my hobbies. I just got back from a dive trip to Key Largo. I also deliver parcels for the
post office part time.
What is your favorite genre to read? What about that genre draws you?
I listen to books when I drive, and right now I’m listening to two different K9 rescue suspense/mystery series.
What is your favorite holiday? And why?
Any holiday I get to spend with my kids and grandkids. I work most federal holidays.
Who did you have in mind as you wrote the book?
I write all my books with the hopes of reaching 12-16 year old girls who are hurting, seeking answers, or are in need of healing.
As a former K-12 school librarian I have to ask – what is your favorite children’s book?
Make Way for Ducklings! I even traveled from the Florida Panhandle to the Boston Park to see the bronze statues of the ducks from the book.
What advice would you give to a child or teen who wants to be a writer?
Study your craft. Then go for your dream and don’t let anyone discourage you.

Thank you so much for joining us today, Kathy. It is always fun to learn more about authors.
