Poem-mobiles was on the Land of Enchantment list a couple of years ago, it became one of my favorites which I share at the end of each school year. It also gets used during Poetry Month.

With Douglas Florian involved, you know that kids are going to love the poetry. J. Patrick Lewis and Douglas Florian collaborated on the poetry in this picture book. With titles like: “Giant Bookmobile of Tomorrow,” “Eel-ectric Car,” “High-heel Car,” “Caterpillar Cab,” “The Banana Split Car,” and more there is bound to be one that tickles your funny bone.

Jeremy Holmes uses a steam punk style in his illustrations rendered in pencil and watercolor; which were then digitally colored. There is much to see in each illustration as they go beyond the text.

I would recommend Poem-mobiles: Crazy Car Poems by Lewis, J. Patrick, Florian, Douglas (2014) Hardcover as an addition to your library. It is available from Amazon. Thanks for using my affiliate link which helps support this children’s literature blog.
