April is Poetry Month and I have four teachers planning some sort of poetry activity – maybe more. I have pulled all my poetry books off the shelves and ordered a few “new to us” titles and I’m sure they will get used. Over the next four weeks I will be sharing some of these poetry books with you. I’d love to hear how you are celebrating Poetry Month.

The President’s Stuck in the Bathtub contains some hilarious poems which will tickle the funny bones of elementary and middle school students. Author Susan Katz has included a poem from each president, Washington to Obama. Each page contains illustrations by Robert Neubecker which complement the text well. Katz also includes a short paragraph of presidential facts on each page. The book closes with a section titled “Presidential Notes and Quotes” which includes the year of birth and death, a quote, his nickname, and what he was “first” to do or be.

Poems from The President’s Stuck in the Bathtub could be used for Poetry Month, Presidents Day, or in honor of any of the president’s birthdays. If you’d like to add The President’s Stuck in the Bathtub: Poems About the Presidents to your library, it is available from Amazon.
