My Review
Wagner, Michelle. Mickey on the Move: Farming. Illustrated by Jenny Phelps. Herndon, VA: Mascot Books, 2022.
Mickey on the Move: Farming is part of Michelle Wagner’s series Mickey on the Move based on her son who has a cochlear implant. The primary audience for this series is probably other children living with cochlear implants. A secondary audience could easily be friends and classmates of those with cochlear implants.Beyond that I’m not sure how much interest there would be in this title.
Michelle Wagner shares the differences a water-resistant implant made in Mickey’s life as well as information about his life on their farm.
I did not find the story line to be very engaging – it is more informative. Jenny Phelps illustrations are colorful and complement the text, however they are very simple, not of the quality I am used to seeing in children’s picture books.
Mickey on the Move: Farming could find a place in a K-12 Christian school library, especially if the school has students who have a cochlear implant. I think I would place this book in the nonfiction section rather than the picture book section.
I received a complimentary copy of Mickey on the Move: Farming. This is my honest review.
