Book Description:

Doctoroo (also known as Dr. Marsha Roo) and her team―Kirby Koala, Louie Llama, and Terence Toad― may live in Australia, but they travel all over the world solving medical mysteries. In Doctoroo & the Case of the Red-Hot Hawaiians, they fly to The Big Island of Hawaii, where
red, hot and very itchy hula dancers are in danger of missing their Big Dance Festival. Will they have to skip the Festival, or will Doctoroo help them in time?

 My Review

Wellner, Dr. Rachel. Doctoroo & the Case of the Red-Hot Hawaiians. Illustrated by Irina Dringova. Los Angeles: Wellner Media, 2022.

As a person who struggled with allergies as a child (and still do) I became excited as I read Doctoroo & the Case of the Red-Hot Hawaiians. Doctoroo is called to determine what is causing a group of dancers to feel hot and have puffy cheeks. As Doctoroo explores possibilities – she explores the different things the dancers could be allergic to. The majority of the story reads like a book that is bringing attention to childhood allergies. I was a little disappointed at the end that it wasn’t an allergic reaction at all – but it was good for the characters that there was a simple answer to their problem.

Dr. Rachel Wellner is a medical doctor and her knowledge comes out in the plot of the story. Irina Dringova created illustrations that compliment the text.

Doctoroo & the Case of the Red-Hot Hawaiians would be a fun book to add to the picture book section of a k-12 Christian School library.

I received a complimentary copy of Doctoroo & the Case of the Red-Hot Hawaiians. This is my honest review.
