My Review
Daly, Jennifer. Zoey the Zebra Meets Lexi the Lion. Illustrated by Hailey Nelson. House United Publishing, 2021.
Zoey the Zebra Meets Lexi the Lion is a cute story by Jennifer Daly that encourages friendships between people who are different. Zoey gets separated from her herd and comes across Lexi whose paw is stuck in the rocks. I love this quote from Lexi near the end of the story “I believe because we’re different, we can help each other. Our differences will make us a stronger team. Besides, you seem like a really nice friend to have.”
Daly closes the book with some discussion questions which add to the usefulness of the book in a classroom setting.
Hailey Nelson’s colorful drawings are very realistic. She chose scenes to illustrate that may otherwise be unfamiliar to the readers.
There is nothing that would prevent Zoey the Zebra Meets Lexi the Lion from being added to a k-12 Christian school library. It could find a place in a picture book section. The book could also find a place in a primary grade reading group.

About the Author – Jennifer Daly
