Two people scarred by past trauma have a chance to write a new chapter in their lives, overcome loss, and find love in the third entry in the Madison River Romance series.
Screenwriter Cecilia “Blue” Walker is victim to life’s worst plot twists. Having lost her daughter to the depths of the Madison River and her husband to the arms of another woman, she finds herself yearning for something to restore her brittle faith and once-vibrant career.
Hope arrives in the form of her childhood friend, Thomas Beck, a firefighter with a legacy of larger-than-life rescues who doesn’t see himself as a hero. Haunted by his past, Thomas only agrees to a movie adaptation of his story if Blue, his longtime crush, is the screenwriter.
However, as Blue and Thomas work together to bring his heroism to the big screen, the glitz and glamour of Hollywood threaten to shed light on secrets that could tear their fragile relationship and their lives apart.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Prone to wander, Janine Rosche finds as much comfort on the open road as she does at home. This longing to chase adventure, behold splendor, and experience redemption is woven into her Madison River Romance series. When she isn’t writing or traveling, she teaches family life education courses to college students, takes too many pictures of her sleeping dogs, and embarrasses her four children and husband with boy band serenades.

AN INTERVIEW WITH JANINE
When did you first know you wanted to be an author? In third grade, I had the opportunity to write a book and “publish” it in our school library. In my mind, The Baby Elephant, was going to be the first book of my author career. And then someone wrote “DUM” on the last page. I knew I was a good writer, but I didn’t have the courage to face the critics. And so, that was the end of my author career, or so I thought. It took me 26 years for me to reconsider because after a series of events, I’d finally found my brave, so to say!
When you are not writing, what other hats do you wear? What do you do for fun? Somehow, I’ve managed to convince my four children that long road trips is fun, especially if you are heading somewhere historical like Gettysburg. I’m also a huge movie buff and I’m a champion at the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon. Try me.
What is your favorite genre to read? What about that genre draws you? I love contemporary romance the most, probably because I like kissing books. Historical romances are great but I’m always rooting for the hero and heroine to break some kind of societal expectation and be without a chaperone and stuff.
What is your favorite season of the year? And why? Definitely autumn. I love Halloween, college football, pumpkin patches, campfires, and not sweating. It’s like living in an L.L. Bean catalog!
Who did you have in mind as you wrote the book? My oldest brother. Certain people, like my brother, can’t help but be heroes. It’s in their blood. One of my first memories is visiting him in the hospital. As a firefighter, he nearly died saving his friend from a fire. While most would quit after that, he went on to fight in war (with the Air Force), be a paramedic, and work as a safety director at a dam. Even now in his retirement, he volunteers to fight wildland fires in Washington state. I wanted to dive into that mentality with Glory Falls.
Which character did you enjoy writing most? Cecilia “Blue” Walker because she is very much like me, personality-wise. In a way, it felt like I was celebrating everything I love about myself—my spunk, my sense of humor, and my ability to love deeply and unswervingly. Even when I wrote about her negative traits, I was able to find appreciation for them.
Which character gave you the most grief? Thomas Beck was a tough hero to write. He doesn’t talk much, and he doesn’t show emotion. I talk all the time and I’ve felt fifty different emotions since I got out of bed this morning…Now it’s fifty-one. It pushed me to find creative ways for the reader to know what was going on in his head, like my favorite scene when he pours out his hopes, dreams, and fears… to his dog.
As a former K-12 school librarian I have to ask – what is your favorite children’s book? Island of the Blue Dolphins by Scott O’Dell. My dog’s middle name is Karana because of that book!
What advice would you give to a child or teen who wants to be a writer? Write, write, write! And don’t listen to the discouragers, especially if they don’t know that DUMB has a silent B in it!
Thank you so much for taking time to answer my questions today, Janine. I love getting to know the authors behind the books and I think my readers do as well.
