OhWhatAThanksgiving

Summary from Amazon

David, a boy who thinks modern Thanksgivings are boring, imagines being at Plymouth Colony and celebrating the first Thanksgiving with the Pilgrims.

My Review

I love the concept of this book. A teacher tells his students about the first Thanksgiving. David has a vivid imagination and is able to put himself into the time of the Pilgrims. In the process he learns that while times have changed, the basic things people are thankful for have not changed. Steven Kroll does a great job of catching the voice of an imaginative young boy. S.D. Schindler did an excellent job of melding the old (Plymouth Colony) and the new (David’s world) into the same illustration throughout the book.

Oh, What a Thanksgiving! is part of the Thanksgiving collection in my K-12 Christian School library.
