Seeger, Laura Vaccaro. One Boy. New York: Roaring Brook Press, 2008.
One Boy was a Theodore Seuss Geisel Honor Book, an award given to authors of beginning readers whose book engages children in reading. Laura Seeger’s simple text and pages with cut outs around some of the words definitely engage students.
Each page has only two or three words of text with a brightly colored illustration to complement the text. The illustration on one page includes a cut out which, when the page is turned, shows some of the text with additional letters to create new text. For example, “one boy” becomes “all alone.” The book is also a counting book going from one boy to ten ants in your pants.
If you are looking for some simple books to add to your library, I recommend One Boy by Laura Geisel. One Boy is available from Amazon. Thanks for using my affiliate link which helps support this children’s literature blog.
