Biscuit

Capucilli, Alyssa Satin. Biscuit. Illustrated by Pat Schories. New York: HarperCollins Children’s Books, 1996.

As I was reading Biscuit to my littles, I thought, “Biscuit is so much like these kiddos.” Alyssa Capucilli has effectively portrayed the voice of a toddler or pre-schooler or other young child in the character of Biscuit. Pat Schories illustrations make the reader fall in love with Biscuit.

It is bedtime. Biscuit wants to play. Biscuit wants a snack. Biscuit wants a drink. Biscuit wants a story. Biscuit wants… so many things that every parent of a younger child has heard at bed time. Biscuit definitely has appeal for young children. The simple text makes it a great addition to any leveled reader library.
