Stuart, Melissa. Butterfly Love from Above. Illustrated by Kate Solenova. McKinney, TX: Performance Publishing Group, 2022.
Butterfly Love from Above is a book young children will enjoy. Melissa Stuart based this on a true story. In Butterfly Love from Above, provides children with a beautiful story to help through loss. Star develops a “friendship” with a butterfly. When the butterfly stops coming around, she relies on her memories of Twinkle. When a new friend comes into her life in the form of a horse named Luna, she shares him with lonely kids from school.
Kate Solenova created beautiful illustrations which compliment the text well. Kids will enjoy looking at them while listening to the book.
As an adult who occasionally struggles with unfulfilled dreams, I was encouraged by the author’s note at the end of the book. Instead of focusing on her dreams that hadn’t come true, Melissa chose to re-write her story.
Butterfly Love from Above would be a nice addition to the picture book section of a K-12 Christian school library.
I received a complimentary copy of Butterfly Love from Above. This is my honest review.
