Single mom Darcy Emerson Sloan has enough to do raising twins and running a restaurant. She’s doing fine on her own and doesn’t need the complications of a man in her life. But when her café turns into a crime scene, putting her and her children are in danger, she begins to take interest in the handsome young FBI agent that comes on the scene.

Contractor Del Reno is as even-keeled as they come, but even he has his limits. And Darcy Sloan has pushed him too far. Every time he tries to help, it backfires. But now that Darcy and her kids are in trouble, he has no choice but to come to her aid and to protect her. She’s just going to have to deal with it.

MY REVIEW

Merrick, Regina Rudd. Rebuilding Joy. NP: Bellville Street Books, 2021.

I fell in love with the Mosaic authors, their books and their characters from the beginning of the collection. It is always fun to revisit the characters as more books come out – it’s like visiting with old friends.

Rebuilding Joy by Regina Merrick is the second book in RenoVations series. We become reacquainted with many of the characters from Heart Restoration. This book focuses on Darcy, the daughter of the cafe owner. Readers will watch her as she faces troubles and learns to once again trust Jesus. Readers also get more adventure with the expanding mystery behind the tunnels under Nick and Lisa’s home. Who is involved? Who can be trusted?

Merrick has written another sweet romance which includes mystery, intrigue, and a few surprises. I look forward to reading more books in this series. 

While it is an adult novel, Rebuilding Joy would be appropriate for a K-12 Christian school library. I think older middle schoolers and high schoolers would enjoy it. 

I received a complimentary copy of Rebuilding Joy. This is my honest review.
