My Review

Wyland, Donna. Your Home in Heaven. Illustrated by Lynne Marie Davis. Plymouth, MA: Elk Lake Publishing, 2020.

Donna Wyland has combined a couple of Biblical concepts in Your Home in Heaven. Parents and teachers are always looking for ways to teach young children about Heaven and about the fruits of the Spirit. Your Home in Heaven does both. She ties each of the fruit to a part of a home – the home Jesus is building for each of us in Heaven.  She also includes discussion questions at the end of the story which can assist the adult who is reading the book, especially if they are not comfortable discussing Spiritual things.

While the words are in large print, there are a lot of words on each page making the book more appropriate for young elementary students than for preschoolers. I would say that Your Home in Heaven is more of a read aloud book than a read alone book although it isn’t really large enough for class-sized audiences.

Lynne Marie Davis’ illustrations are done in soft colors. They go well with the text.

Your Home in Heaven would be an appropriate book for a k-12 Christian school library, a church library, or a primary classroom library.

I received a complimentary copy of Your Home in Heaven. This is my honest review.

More from Donna

Having lost three best friends at 16 and a younger brother at 18, God gave me a heart for heaven at an early age. He also filled me with a heart of joy. Your Home in Heaven reflects both.
