An Interview

Meghann, thanks for joining me today. When did you first know you wanted to be an author?

It’s hard to remember a time when I didn’t want to be an author. I published a short story in my elementary school’s anthology in the third grade, and I think that was pretty much it for me—I knew I wanted to be a writer when I grew up.

When you are not writing, what other hats do you wear? What do you do for fun?

I’m a wife and a mom to three little boys, so I’m pretty busy most of the time! When I get time to myself, I like to read, exercise and listen to Christian rock music. I went to a TobyMac concert right before COVID-19 hit, which was just fantastic! Talk about an amazing showman!

We appreciate TobyMac at our house too. My daughter and son were looking forward to a spring break concert that has since been postponed to next January.

What is your favorite genre to read? What about that genre draws you?

This probably won’t come as a big surprise, but I read a ton of Christian romance. With all the crazy things going on in the world right now, it’s nice to be able to escape into sweet stories that make me feel happy.

Which character did you enjoy writing most?

I had a lot of fun writing the heroine’s four-year-old daughter, Emma. She’s a sweet, precocious kid who likes to sing, dance and eat ice cream. Imagining her interactions with Jonathan, the book’s hero, made me smile.

What is your current WIP?  What can you tell us about it?

I just finished another inspirational romance set on Cape Cod. It features one of the secondary characters from Falling for the Innkeeper, Chloe, as the heroine.

Sounds good. I love it when secondary characters show up again.

As a former K-12 school librarian I have to ask – what is your favorite children’s book?

Green Eggs and Ham by Dr. Seuss! It’s just so much fun to read out loud to kids! I also really enjoy reading Fox in Socks and Mo Willems’ Elephant and Piggie books.

Green Eggs and Ham was one of my favorites as a kid as well.

What advice would you give to a child or teen who wants to be a writer?

Read, read, read, read, read, read, read! And practice. The more you practice, the better you’ll get.

I really appreciate you joining us today, Meghann. My readers and I always enjoy getting to know authors.
